The Submarine Song - The Supernaturals

The Supernaturals are a band that define 90’s brit-pop for me.  Although dismissed by the british press, they had quite a few top ten hits with “smile”, “the day before yesterday’s man” and “I wasn’t built to get up”.  Most bands from that era feel dated, but the Supernaturals still sound new and quirky to me.  It’s probably because they didn’t take themselves too seriously, which is really saying something when compared to our current ultra brooklyn/hipster culture.

The band is since long gone.. but James McColl (frontman) now writes the songs for a band called the Hussy’s.
